Fargo enhances distributor satisfaction in India

HID Global’s Fargo-brand card printers have helped Amway – the largest direct-selling Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) company in India – enhance distributor satisfaction and achieve better sales performance.

Since 1998, Amway India, a wholly owned subsidiary of Amway Corporation USA, has established a presence with more than 125 offices and 55 warehouses nationwide. More than 450,000 active distributors carry out business in every corner of the country, reaching as many as 2,000 towns and cities.

Twenty HID Global’s Fargo-brand C30e printers are being used at Amway offices across India today, and more than 150,000 distributor ID Cards have been issued since the company began using the instant card issuance solution. And as a result, Amway has been able to enhance distributor satisfaction and its overall sales performance.

Before acquiring the Fargo C30e printers, new members of Amway’s distributor network would receive a distributor ID card their name and membership number produced by a third-party card printer. But Amway started to evaluate the possibilities of ID card issuance on their own premises because the turnaround time using a third-party printer was long and the company had concerns regarding data security.

“Amway was dissatisfied with the long lead time that definitely delayed their business, so they were looking for other solutions,” says Prashant Gupta, senior product manager at Lipi Data Systems Limited, responsible for local assembly and distribution of Fargo branded printers in India.
Amway approached various card printer manufacturers, looking for one that could provide them with extensive technical support, a short turnaround time and a small footprint, because their offices could only accommodate compact size printers.

After a three-month trial at three separate Amway offices, HID Global’s Fargo C30e printer, recommended by Lipi Data Systems, was selected because it best suited Amway’s needs for simple text printing on preprint cards.

Prashant says: “During the trial period, the customer was satisfied with the performance of Fargo C30e and our dedicated, nationwide technical support team. First, the customer was impressed by the reliability of the solution, but soon found added benefits, such as ease-of-use.”
