Famous landmark secures its facilities with IKON VERSO CLIQ

The Berlin Television Tower, one of the city’s most famous landmarks, relies on the security and flexibility provided by IKON VERSO CLIQ locking system. “We are more than satisfied with VERSO CLIQ,” Christina Aue, CEO of the company that operates the building, TV Turm Alexanderplatz Gastronomiegesellschaft.

“The locking system fulfills our requirements 100 percent. I personally regard the acquisition of the locking system as an investment in security for our company.”

The operating company is faced with high security requirements as a result of the tower's landmark status, which draws 1.2 million visitors a year. The IKON VERSO CLIQ solution, a mechatronic locking system which combines highly developed microelectronics with intelligent data encryption, offered the company the security and flexibility they were looking for.

Aue says: “The areas managed by us as the operator, including all public areas, the two high-speed lifts, the restaurant, storerooms and the administrative offices in the building around the base, are sensitive areas and call for a hierarchical access structure.”

The use of seasonal staff and temporary workers in varying sections of the tower, changes in staff levels due to fluctuations in requirements, restructuring or outsourcing to external companies, also mean access authorizations need to be adapted quickly and flexibly.

Another aspect in VERSO CLIQ’s favor was the availability of reliable, comprehensive documentation. Aue says: “We need to be able to trace who entered a particular room at a particular time. Besides having clear access rules, we can now also check who last unlocked a particular door, locker or office cupboard when required by consulting the VERSO CLIQ events log memory.”

Easy system handling and programming also played an important role the selection of VERSO CLIQ.

“The solution reduces our workload enormously,” Aue says. “The system and its components can operate quickly and securely just by pressing a button.”
