Lufthansa turns to KESO GmbH for locking system

Lufthansa Flight Training trains pilots and crew for Lufthansa at seven locations in Europe and the US. ASSA ABLOY met their need for a state-of-the-art locking system characterized by Swiss accuracy and quality for Lufthansa Flight Training’s home base in Frankfurt, Germany.

Lufthansa’s training facilities are equipped with premium learning and teaching aids, including cockpit simulators that recreate the experience of flying commercial aircraft, complete with realistic movement, images, sounds and sensations. To protect this equipment, the facility requires a robust locking solution.

With this in mind, KESO developed a sustainable solution based on the KESO 4000S Omega mechanical locking system. In all, 1,014 cylinders and 800 keys are used to secure the Flight Training Center.

KESO’s patented Omega technology offers an intelligent combination of the highest security and comprehensive copy-protection. For a door to be unlocked, the pins along the top edge of the key must interact with the corresponding mechanism in the lock cylinder.

Since the patent only expires in 2023, the Omega locking system also offers long-term exclusivity and protection of investment.

Other products used in the system include KESO KEK i-turn and KESO KEK Genie mechatronic cylinders, as well as KESO’s network-on-key technology, which uses keys, key fobs and ID cards to transport data between online and offline doors, thus reducing the daily administration burden.
With the KESO KEKgenie Knauf mechatronic locking system, access authorizations can be controlled, managed and documented electronically. The system can be administered using KESO key-entry software on a PC.

Thanks to the flexibility of KESO’s modular system and the interoperability of the product range, the locking systems can be upgraded to meet the future demands of the Flight Training Center.
