Access control from HID Global at law and order authority

HID Global physical access control solutions have helped the Jinwan People’s Procuratorate in China safeguard its personnel, law enforcement areas and property, as well as solve its access management issues.

The Jinwan District People’s Procuratorate in Zhuai city is an important judiciary and law enforcement authority in China, responsible for criminal investigation, prosecution and appeal. Built in 2009, the facility has handled more than 200 cases that same year.

HID Global’s solutions for access control were selected for its leading technology, comprehensive after-sales support and lifetime warranty. VertXTM V1000 network controller, VertX V100 reader interfaces and different models of iCLASS® readers and smart cards were installed according to security requirements.

 “Security was the top concern for us when choosing products,” said Mr. Yang, Engineer Zhuhai City Jinwan District Procuratorate. “The HID iCLASS cards and readers offered enhanced security through encryption and mutual authentication. We fully recognized this function as one of the critical factors in choosing HID Global’s physical access solutions.”

In high-security level zones, such as the server room housing the network controller, iCLASS RK40 card readers were installed to prevent loss of confidential files, because they require dual authentication by both the card and as well as PIN verification. For low-risk areas such as the general office, iCLASS R30 contactless smart card readers were used to restrict access.

The highest security level area was the gun cellar, which required the most stringent access management, and where using cards and readers alone is not the most effective way of controlling access. When cards were lost, access could potentially have been granted to unauthorized persons. To address this issue, RKLB57 – 6180 bioCLASS readers were installed in this area and fingerprint templates of individual personnel are stored on iCLASS contactless smart cards; users have to perform dual authentication by card presentation plus biometric fingerprint for identity verification.

Yang stated: “In the past, it was difficult to monitor the personnel’s access in key zones. When articles were lost, we had no clue to trace them, which resulted in loss and also posed a security threat. However, HID Global’s physical access solutions have made key zone management easy. By using iCLASS cards and readers, we are enforcing stringent access authority management. We can now set access levels to restrict the entry to designated personnel or specific time.”
