Skip the line, check-in with your mobile phone
Nokia’s new NFC-enabled mobile phones will allow guests at hotels equipped with VingCard’s Signature RFID/NFC hotel locks to use their mobile phone to open their room.
ASSA ABLOY Hospitality’s VingCard has installed over 100,000 Signature RFID/NFC hotel locks around the world. For example, major hotel Groups across Scandinavia are installing these locks, and the demand is rising.
The imminent launch of the Nokia 6212 NFC-enabled mobile phone and the progress made by mobile operator TeliaSonera to bring NFC services to market means that hotels equipped with Signature RFID/NFC locks will soon be able to send the booking confirmation, room number and an encrypted room key to its guest’s mobile phone, before they arrive at the hotel. On arrival, the guest can skip check-in and use the phone as a key.
TeliaSonera’s CTO and SVP Mobility Services Lars Klasson says: “NFC has the potential to offer a new level of simplicity for users. We want to build the ‘ecosystems’ with strong players like VingCard, for different NFC applications. TeliaSonera offers ‘Telia Kvittens’ (Telia Receipt) services for the Swedish market, which has received very good customer and user feedback. We will continue to work together with partners to offer more NFC-based services which will add value to customers.”
